A little self reflection upon reaching 3 million views.
At each new milestone I always say that I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all of you, and the longer I've been capping the more it's proven true. I cannot express how grateful I am to all of you who stop by to see what I create. It's your enthusiasm for my work that keeps me turning out new material even when my own levels of motivation aren't around.
But with that being said, I think it's time for me to take a step back from this blog. Don't worry, I'm not calling it quits, I prefer to think of it as semi-retirement. I'll still post new caps when the mood strikes me, but I'm not going to force myself to turn out new material anymore. In all honesty I don't expect my net production to change all that much, but new caps will likely come out in clusters with longer gaps in between.
I want to miss captioning again. I want to have that creative itch to spin a yarn about a good fuck, whether it be one of the mind or one of a more literal variety. And that just won't happen as long as I feel obligated to cap.
So I'm downgrading to part-time, in the hopes that I can find the fire I had back when I started all this. Don't worry if you don't hear from me for a bit, I'm just taking a much needed break. See you all around.
And once again, thank you. I really wouldn't be here without you.
You've been one of my favorite captioners fot so long. Glad to find you cherished the support of the rest of us 'lurkers and back cappers alike).
ReplyDeleteBtw, did you play Bioshock Infinite perhaps? I was just looking up the Barbershop Quartet rendition of "God Only Knows" that plays in the game, and noticed your title and some of the dialogue in this cap could be taken as a reference. If not, what a happy coincidence:D.
Thank you, and yes I did, fantastic game.
DeleteLovely caption Rauk that can be taken on so many levels. I think only you could marry this kind of story and that image to a Beach Boy's song!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you are taking a step back from the blog. Not that I'm happy to see you go, just that I think you are taking the best step to make capping fresh and new again. I hope you have many wonderful days away and that your batteries get full allowing you to not only continue making such wonderful treats for all of us, but that it allows you to have that joy yourself in making them!
Thank you, even after just a couple of days off I'm getting flashes of inspiration again. They're not enough to compel me to write a full caption, but it's more than I've been having in a long time so I'm optimistic.

ReplyDeleteThose of us who truly appreciate your work will be glad to wait till you return next either to leave us all a note or to leave us a caption. I agree with the rest with the idea that you are in fact doing the right thing for you. When one needs a fresh slate to work from .. and feels burned out on the ideas or the desire is not as strong to produce for whatever reason .. then it is in fact time to take time away from it to get that fresh perspective when you later return. Sometimes its just a matter of getting a breather and experiencing something else for a while to let your batteries recharge so to speak .. so take all the time you need we will be here to see your return when you do eventually return.
Monica
Thank you, I hope to be back to my old self again before too long.
